Together '08 GirlGuidingNZ All Leaders’ Event 2008 Update no 2 (July 2008)

This event is all about you – as a leader of girls. 

Why should you be there?  Together, this is a chance for

• networking and sharing with colleagues – both new and old

plus of course, lots of fun and enjoyment to be had with charity auctions, personal development sessions and entertainment.

Register Now to Receive an Earlybird Discount!
Register before the end of July to receive the early bird discount on your event fee. Registrations should be accompanied by a $100 non-refundable deposit, but the rest of the fee is not due until 12 September. Remember also to take advantage of travel and accommodation bargains!  Please go to the Bulletin Board on the home page of www.girlguidingnz.org.nz and click on the registration form.

Who Should Attend?
All leaders are invited and we hope that a good number of you will be able to come.

It’s an opportunity for us all to come together and set our sights on Guiding’s next 100 years but also celebrate our history and past achievements.

But is it a Training?
Together ’08 will be a weekend of networking and celebration, with some opportunities for development thrown in. While the sessions you attend do not count towards your GirlGuidingNZ leadership qualifications, you will gain from them for your own personal development and gain skills and knowledge to help you in your Guiding roles. With more than 40 different sessions to choose from spread over the weekend, there is something for everyone.

Charity Auction and Spot Prizes
Part of the event will include a charity auction to raise money for Te Ropu Tamariki. Some great items have been donated already, ranging from movie tickets to a big screen TV!!!

A number of spot prizes are up for grabs before and during the event. You could win a spot prize simply by returning your workshop selections promptly!  There will be lots of other opportunities also.

What Will I Need to Bring?
Guiding uniform will be worn throughout the weekend, with the exception of dinner on Saturday night where you’ll be wearing your ‘Ambitious Fun’ outfit. Bring comfortable uniform for during the day, and warm gear for the evenings. We’ll be out and about during the weekend, so bring good walking shoes and your raincoat and sunhat.

Meals and drinks are included in your event fee, but a cash bar will operate during happy hours. The Guide Shop will also be on site.

Together '08 GirlGuidingNZ All Leaders’ Event 2008 Update no 1 (June 2008) Breaking news …

The All Leaders’ Event at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre at Labour Weekend 2008 (24 – 27 October)will be known as Together ’08.

Register now for an early-bird discount on the event fee. Remember, accommodation is strictly limited, so book now!  Also keep your eye out for special discounted travel deals to Auckland.

Planning for Together ’08 is well under way, and the programme outline will be sent in mid-August so you can select the workshops you’d like to attend. Registrations and workshop selections must be in by 12 September, and those who return workshop selections promptly will go in the draw for great spot prizes.

The event will start with registration from 6pm on the Friday night (24 October), followed by the AGMs – all are welcome to attend. At the conclusion of the GirlGuidingNZ AGM, there will be supper and copies of Ambitious Fun, The Journey of GirlGuiding in New Zealand, will be available.  We hope to confirm shortly that the author, Carol Dawber, will be available to personally sign the books you purchase.

For those unable to attend on the Friday night, registration will be open from 7:30am to 8:15am on Saturday morning.

The opening ceremony for Together ’08 will begin at 8:30am on Saturday morning, and the event will end with lunch at 1pm on Monday.

Advance warning…

The theme for the celebratory dinner on Saturday night will be Ambitious Fun – what will you dress up as? Also, there will be a charity auction held during the weekend, with great packages up for grabs, so plan to bring along your money!

Help wanted!

Instructors are sought for exercise try-it sessions over the weekend (e.g. yoga, pilates, tai chi). If you are an instructor, or you know someone who is, and would be willing to lead a couple of 30 minute sessions, please let us know!

And if you have any suggestions or special requests for workshops over the weekend, please send them in as soon as possible.

(Please note that time constraints mean that it will not be possible to offer Arahina Modules).
